New episode of Burns’ “The American Revolution” airs tonight

Last night, PBS began airing Ken Burns’ documentary, “The American Revolution” and will continue at 8 p.m. tonight with a new episode each night for the next five nights. Covering the period from May 1775 to July 1776, today’s episode will touch on how George Washington took command of the Continental Army and why the Continental Congress issued the Declaration of Independence.

The showing last night was excellent and thoroughly examined the early days of the protest that led to the Revolution through the Battles of Lexington and Concord. It was intriguing to see how Burns could tell the story with few visuals and no photographs from the period.

Please join me in watching tonight to get the big picture. Look at the amazing story of the American Revolution. Encourage your friends to watch tonight and for the rest of the week.

If you do happen to miss an episode or want to go back and rewatch one, they are all available online through Dec. 15.
