Trump called upon his Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, and his rebuilt military to pull off another textbook operation and infiltrate a foreign land to arrest the corrupt Nicolas Maduro and his wife. This was more of a criminal operation than a political action, as both Maduro and his wife had been indicted by American courts on international drug trafficking charges and were being brought to New York City to be tried for those crimes.
The Democratic leadership went into instantaneous apoplectic level 5 hysteria, with Hakeem Jeffries claiming Trump was acting beyond the powers of his office. Poor Chuck Schumer did not know what to say, and the best he could utter without a speechwriter was that Trump invaded Venezuela to distract attention away from a failing economy and the Epstein Files. Many protests quickly sprang up across the country in support of Maduro. It is always impressive how quickly these protesters produce professionally printed signs. What redeeming quality can these protesters hang their hat on to support a ruthless dictator who pillaged his home country and poisoned ours? Even Socialist Mayor Mamdani was quick to claim that Trump’s actions were bad for his city. Of course, nobody asked him to substantiate such a ludicrous statement. His biggest concern was one of his Socialist mentors being pulled from his throne. It is a conundrum that the same people who call Trump a king are supportive of an ultimate dictator. There is no sense you can make of the logic of people who are controlled by their emotions.
The only element of the operation that even the Right had an issue with was Trump declaring that we would run Venezuela until they could put a Democratic government in place. There was no timetable, no specifics, no denial of boots on the ground, and no real plan. It was uncharacteristic of Trump to leave this loose end for his detractors to latch onto. For an operation of this magnitude with no injuries, casualties, or damaged assets, we can cut the Chief some slack. Lord knows the Left won’t give him any.
