Truth be told, I did a double-take when I saw it. NC DPI hosting a press conference celebrating choice in NC public schools? In most years, you wouldn’t hear a peep about the weeklong celebration of National School Choice Week.
Times have changed.
Though, I strongly believe their definition of choice is much too narrow. Is it really a choice if one can only choose from public school options? Let’s look at the bright side: It’s good to have our public schools joining in the conversation and acknowledging the value of choice.
