North Carolinians have two more reasons to be happy our schools. Earlier this week US News announced the latest rankings of public high schools in the US.
North Carolina had 13 schools ranked in the top 500 public schools in the nation.
The Early College at Guilford School in Greensboro was named the best public high school in North Carolina. It was also ranked number 23 among all schools nationally. In 2023, it was ranked as the nation’s top high school
As far as local schools, Wake STEM and Early College High School in Cary was named as the top local school.

The good news, however, didn’t stop with the rankings.
Last week the Yass Prize, an annual award given to support education innovation and transformation announced the 26 finalists for its $1 million dollar price.
Among the contenders are two North Carolina schools headed by two dynamic leaders.
Creative Minds Microschool in Wendell, North Carolina opened its doors in 2020 n 2020. The school, started by Dr. Lisa Swinson provides personalized learning pathways, innovative hands-on projects and a nurturing environment wherever child is valued. Cornerstone Christian Academy in Statesville is also among the 26 finalists for the Yass Prize. The school, started in 1995 by Renee Griffith provides kids who struggle in traditional classrooms with individualized instruction and has delivered impressive results.
