The group Braver Angels is hosting a debate over Amendment 4 which, if passed, would result in New Mexico legislators being paid salaries of $68,000 annually (adjusted in the future based on inflation) on top of a $247 per diem AND a generous pension.
Rio Grande Foundation opposes the Amendment and, while we’re not opposed to the idea of paying legislators, take the position that broader legislative reforms are needed.
The debate is scheduled for October 24 from 2 to 4pm at the Taylor Ranch Public Library. It is free and open to the public. (sign up here)
