A Trillion Dollar Energy Law – HB2021: Watch John Charles on PDX Real

“All we want as consumers is reliable, affordable energy.”

~John A. Charles, Jr., Cascade Policy Institute

“Oregon is 0.014% of global emissions. We are raising rates, restricting energy supply,
and risking reliability for no measurable climate impact.”

~Angela Todd, PDX REAL

In this special report, local independent journalist, Angela Todd of PDX Real, interviewed international energy consultant Kathryn Porter (04:54), HB2021’s co-sponsor Rep. Maxine Dexter (09:25), and Cascade Policy Institute’s CEO John Charles (13:00).

Todd breaks down House Bill 2021 and reveals what Oregon’s Net Zero energy law actually requires, why electricity prices are rising, and why the most expensive years are still ahead with no measurable climate benefit for Oregonians.

In 2021 the Oregon legislature quietly passed House Bill 2021 and crafted rules to end the use of fossil fuels in Oregon by 2040. It was the beginning of a very dark future for Oregon consumers and industry as the Oregon Department of Energy continues to buckle down on an energy strategy that  would hurl our electrical grid and economy back to the nineteenth century.
