A Florida woman flying out of Miami recently tried taking turtles past a TSA checkpoint by hiding them in her bra. She didn’t succeed.
The woman, unnamed in a Transportation Security Administration social media post Thursday, stuffed the two turtles into her brassiere to go through Miami International Airport’s checkpoint. Pictures posted by TSA showed them wrapped in gauze and plastic wrap.
TSA didn’t say when the woman went through the checkpoint, whether she was wearing the bra or if it was in her luggage.
One of the turtles died and the other was turned over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, TSA said.
“As far as TSA screening goes, small pets are allowed through our checkpoint but must be removed from any carriers and carried through the checkpoint (notice we said ‘carried’ and not ‘hidden underneath your clothing’),” the agency said in its post.
TSA made no mention of a fine or sanction beyond confiscating the surviving turtle.
