Pam Bondi Announces What’s Next For Sanctuary Cities

Attorney General Pam Bondi appeared on Fox Business Monday to warn local and state leaders that cooperating with federal immigration policies is no longer optional—it’s mandatory.

Bondi ended Washington, D.C’s sanctuary city status and put Drug Enforcement Administration Administrator Terrence C. Cole in charge of the Metropolitan Police to tackle violent crime and restore order. In an appearance on “Kudlow,” Bondi said she issued 32 warning letters to mayors across the country as well as seven governors, telling them to comply or face serious consequences.

“So last week I sent out 32 letters to mayors around the country and, I believe, to seven governors telling them you better comply or you’re next,” Bondi said. “If they don’t comply with us, Larry, we’re going to work with our other agencies to cut off their federal funding. We are going to send in law enforcement just like we did during the LA riots, just like we’re doing here in Washington, D.C.”

Bondi reiterated President Donald Trump’s directive to restore law and order.

“If they’re not going to keep their citizens safe, Donald Trump will keep them safe. That’s what this is all about, making America safe again. That was his only directive, and that’s what we’re doing,” Bondi added.

Trump placed Washington’s police force under federal oversight last Monday after a Department of Government Efficiency employee, Edward “Big Balls” Coristine, suffered serious injuries after intervening in a violent car theft. While Democrats claim violent crime in the city has dropped by about one-third, reports indicate that the Metropolitan Police Department’s data omits aggravated and felony assaults, both classified as violent crimes under D.C. law.

On June 30, a gunman fatally shot Republican Kansas Rep. Ron Estes’ intern, Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, near the White House. In May, an alleged pro-Hamas activist killed two Israeli Embassy staffers during an event at the Capital Jewish Museum.
