Sutherland Institute joins amicus brief in Rio Grande Foundation v. Oliver

This week, Advancing American Freedom and 22 other organizations, including Sutherland Institute, submitted an an amicus brief to the United States Supreme Court in the Rio Grande Foundation v. Oliver case.

The case challenges a New Mexico law that requires, “any person making independent expenditures to disclose sensitive donor information if they name a candidate or specific ballot measure within so many days before an election.” The state government then publishes those donors’ identities on a government website.

As the amicus brief states, “This law unconstitutionally infringes [on the] right to free association and speech.”
